Notice of Race

1. ORGANIZING AUTHORITY

Union Yachtclub Wolfgangsee on the behalf of the Austrian Sailing Federation (OeSV) and in cooperation with Melges Class Association.

2. RULES

2.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2009-2012 and by the current sailing regulations defined by the OeSV 2012 and the sailing instructions given by the Union Yachtclub Wolfgangsee, the Class Rules of the Melges24 Class and the notice of race.

3. ADVERTISING

The advertising is permitted according to Class Rule.

To conform with regulation 20.4 ISAF, the Organizing Authority may ask competitors to display sponsor flag and/ or stickers according to 20.3 ISAF on the boat or other parts of equipment.

4 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

4.1 The race is open to boats of the Melges 24

4.2 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party

Liability insurance with a minimum cover of € 1.000.000,00 per event or the equivalent if expressed in other currency. Proof of insurance shall be provided upon registration.

4.3. All participants must be a registrated member of a sailing federation, an international or national Sailing Association acknowledged by ISAF.

4.4 All helmsmen are obliged to be owner of a „Sailing Licence-A“ or an equivalent document.

4.5 Each participating boat has to show at the registration a valid measurement document.

5. PRE-REGISTRATION SHOULD BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN JUNE 22nd

6. ENTRY FEE

The fee is € 180,00

Payments have to be made at registration by cash only.

The entry fee includes a dinner at Friday, and a dinner at Saturday.

8. SCORING

8.1 Up to five (5) races may be held.

8.2 The Low Point System of Appendix ‘A’ will apply.

8.3 When 4 races have been completed, there will be one throw-out.

8.4 On Sunday races can be started after 1500 even if the race is not necessary to qualify the regatta as „Schwerpunktregatta“

9. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk; see also RRS rule 4, Decision to Race.

The Organizing Authority, the Sailing Club, the National Authority and the Austrian Melges Class Association, their officers, members and volunteers, do not accept liability for loss of life or property, personal injury or damage, for whatever reason, caused by, in conjunction with or arising out of the regatta, no matter if prior to, during or after the regatta, and competitors take part in the regatta completely at their own risk.

The establishment of the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions in no way limits or reduces the complete and unlimited responsibilities of a competitor being solely and entirely responsible for the management of a boat he or she is sailing.

A competitor must be of good health and a competent sailor capable of sailing the boat in strong winds. It is the responsibility of each boat and each sailor to decide to participate in a race or to continue racing.

The competitors are wholly and exclusively responsible for (sufficient) third party liability insurance on the boat that he or she is sailing and for his or her personal accident and health insurance.

10. PENALTY SYSTEM

The rule 44.1 is changed. The 720° penalty will be replaced by a 360° penalty.

11. PARKING, MOBILE HOMES, CAMPING:

Parking for cars and trailers will be supervised through the organiser. Parking places for mobile homes are available in limited numbers and only available after preregistration at the organiser. There are no other camping facilities close to the yachtclub.

More camping facilities are available in a few kilometres distance to the yacht club.

12. SAFETY REGULATIONS

All boats and participants must be equipped with safety equipment according to their class regulations.
